Prepare to march.  The Niagara Branch, The RCR Association, was invited to join local legionnaires at the district legion convention memorial parade held on Sunday, April 4th, 2009. To our great pleasure, Cpl Jay Matson, 2 tours, Afghanistan, has joined our Branch (he is on RSS) and, as an act of respect, was invited to parade the Niagara Branch's s banner at the head of the procession with the official party. The Lincoln and Welland Regiment provided historical vehicles for legionnaires incapable of marching to ride.   Jimmy Bretherick, to Jay's left, was one of the parade honchos. Jimmy is active with the branch and is also the Sergeant at Arms for RCL Branch 51.

This is a very good picture of the branch colours. I was quite pleased the legion offered such a prominent position for the colours to be borne.  |

At the conclusion of the parade, the cadets placed a small wooden cross at the base of the cenotaph. One for every soldier killed in Afghanistan, with name and KIA date hand written on the side.   That is Mic Storm, Albert's brother. Mic laid a wreath in honour of Albert's sacrifice  |
